JOB SUMMARY
The Vehicle Service Technician (VST) is responsible for ensuring that all ambulances are ‘response ready’ for field crews coming in for their shift assignment, with the goal of reducing down time and increasing the quality and delivery of our services to the crews and our patients. The delivered product is a clean vehicle inside and out with well stocked shelves and functioning equipment. It is important that the product produced is maintained to the highest standard.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
• Vehicle inventory check/control of supplies and equipment.
• Clean ambulances and other field vehicles inside and outside daily.
• Restock ambulance supplies daily.
• Ensure deep cycling of monitor batteries as required.
• Check and top off oil and window washer fluid daily.
• Ensure the workspace is clean and organized.
• Requisition supplies for replacement.
• Inform Supervisor and Fleet Maintenance of breakdowns and cause of equipment failure for repair/reallocate ambulance to crew and keep accurate log.
• Document condition of ambulance at EOS and schedule preparedness for shift personnel.
• Update ‘crew in service’ formation on computer for equipment tracking.
• Respond to daily phone inquiries from crews to help facilitate coordination between departments.
• Conduct self in a professional manner in accordance with the Company’s ‘Standards of Conduct’ policy
• Arrive for duty appropriately groomed and in the proper work dress/uniform.
• Complete all required/assigned Company training
• Adhere to and comply with all Company and information security systems policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
• Some experience in the industry preferred
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Skills:
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to work under time constraints
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Credentials/Licenses:
• Valid State Driver’s License

 

Maintains accurate records of

  • All preventive maintenance and repairs for durable equipment required logs
  • Sends out broken equipment in a timely manner to the appropriate vendor and track the process. 
  • Returns all equipment that is under warranty in a timely manner and makes a request for replacement.
  • Checks in all equipment from field crews.
  • Ensures all medical supplies are scanned to the appropriate unit/department.
  • Inventories narcotics regularly to ensure accurate counts.
  • Receives and stocks incoming shipments from vendors. 
  • Assists with quarterly perpetual inventories. 
  • Performs the courier route as needed. 
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment and/or ambulances before they are put back into service.

 Training

  • Participates in all Company required training, including OSHA, annual training, and mandatory Company updates.
  • Completes all required training within the Company allotted time frame.
  • Maintains knowledge about job position and EMS field

Supply Compliance

  • Requires a clean driving report acceptable by Company standards.
  • Logs events and information daily either manually or electronically.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in accordance with all appropriate OSHA standards, company policies and local standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of communications industry updates to technology/communications activity within the market. Analyze intelligence data and provide recommendations for future action plans.
  • Complies and enforces all policies and procedures.
  • Has successfully completed all required Compliance Training within the required time period.
  • Has had no compliance related corrective action during the current review period.

  • Educational Requirements
  • The individual in this position must possess the following education requirements:
  • High school diploma or
  • General Education Degree (GED)

Physical Requirements

Physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of typical Duty Officer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to bend/stoop, push, pull, lift, and climb.
